Since the advent of radio and television, our society has relied on the expertise and objectivity of reporters, newscasters, and anchors to deliver news in a timely and efficient manner.  Through the evolution of the industry, as in other places in history, women slowly rose to prominence and power as a symbol of trustworthiness, competence, and strength when reporting the news.

Industry giants like CNN and MSNBC have been in the business of putting the best and brightest women in front of us for a number of years, and these women are showing today just how knowledgeable and skilled they are. Their job isn’t easy, especially during these times, and we must acknowledge the responsibility that they embrace when bringing us the stories we wish to know about. These are the highly intelligent, skilled women that drive CNN and MSNBC…

Natalie Morales

Natalie Morales is perhaps best known for her roles as co-anchor and co-host of programs like Today, Dateline, and NBC News. Her childhood travels through different countries with a father who served in the air force contributed to her passion for reporting on foreign affairs.

In March of 2002, Morales joined MSNBC as a regular anchor for several news shows, and she continues to serve the network both as an anchor and reporter for special interest stories.

Lilia Luciano

Lilia Luciano is an award-winning investigative journalist, reporter, and public speaker that has played a significant role across several news mediums. Having worked at ABC, CBS, and the Discovery Channel, her work has earned her awards such as the Walter Cronkite Award For Excellence In Journalism, as well as Regional Emmys and GLAAD’s Outstanding Digital Journalism Award.

Luciano works as a news correspondent and anchor for NBC News, The Today Show, Nightly News With Brian Williams, and MSNBC. She is a valued contributor to the Huffington Post as well as the TEDx series, and she continues to shine in each role that she takes on.

Mariana Atencio

Mariana Atencio’s bilingual abilities have earned her the respect of both the American and Latin American media communities. Part of her journalism experience includes positions with Fusion TV and Univision.

After a number of positions with both CBS and NBC affiliates, Rivera received the opportunity of a lifetime—a chance to anchor several news shows on MSNBC. She began her contract with MSNBC in 2014, and is actively improving ratings and attracting new viewers to the network with each broadcast.

Bianca Nobilo

Bianca Nobilo is a British journalist who now serves as anchor and producer for the CNN network. She was born and raised in New Zealand, having graduated from the University of Warwick with a degree in history. She pursued a master’s in comparative politics at the University of London, and set her sights on the big news networks.

She joined CNN in 2013, initially working as a producer and reporter. Her onscreen debut came in 2015, when Bianca served as anchor for CNN Today and CNN Newsroom. Kate Bolduan

Kate Bolduan attended George Washington University, where she graduated summa cum laude with degrees in both broadcast journalism and political science. Hallie Jackson

Lynda Kinkade

Kinkade started her career in 2002 when she joined the Seven Network as a political researcher while she was in her second year of college. After completing her degree in technology at the University of Technology Sydney, she slowly worked her way through various television and production positions to earn the attention of network execs at CNN.

Lynda now works out of CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta, where she serves as an anchor on CNN International, CNN Newsroom, The World Right Now, and Connect The World. She’s one of the most sought-after talents on the network today.

Kristen Welker

After obtaining her Bachelor of arts from Harvard University, Kristen Welker gained valuable experience working for ABC and NBC news affiliates. She also acted as White House correspondent for several years.

Rosemary Church

With over 30 years of covering global events with passion and purpose, Rosemary Church is a beloved member of the CNN network. She hosts CNN International and is a guest commentator on several other CNN programs, including CNN Saturday and CNN Sunday.

Christina Macfarlane

Christina Macfarlane was born in Surrey, South England. She obtained her BA in English literature from the University of Wales, and from there furthered her studies at Harvard and eventually the City University London, where she finished a master’s degree in broadcast journalism in 2008.

Alison Kosik

Kosik was born and raised in Miami, Florida. After graduating from Nova High School, she obtained a degree American University with a degree in broadcast journalism and set her sights on positions related to political persuasion.

Aspirations of becoming an anchor brought her to West Palm Beach, where she had the opportunity to sharpen her skills behind the desk. Alison Morris

Alison Morris was born and raised in Long Island, New York. After attending illustrious college preparatory classes, she graduated from Yale University with a degree in sociology. She began her career in a lofty position with CNBC Europe in Paris, France.

As of July 2019, she was working as anchor of the show, NBC News Now.  In January of 2020, she was awarded additional responsibilities as anchor of MSNBC weekend shows.  She continues to work and travel back and forth as an anchor and correspondent for MSNBC in New York and Paris, where her career began.

S.E. Cupp

Sarah Elizabeth Cupp, or S.E., as she’s more commonly referred to, is an American journalist, writer, and television anchor. Despite following her passions for art and dance, she found herself drawn to the world of investigative journalism, which then opened the door for her opportunity with CNN.

She has been a former panelist on the political commentary show, CNN Crossfire, and the network kept her on as an anchor and host when they revamped the show. She also anchors S.E. Cupp Unfiltered, which airs on the network on Saturday evenings.

Julia Chatterley

Sarah Harman

Sarah Harman is an award-winning journalist who has acted as a foreign correspondent in Germany for a number of years. She graduated from Georgetown University with degrees in English and psychology, and despite the unrelated educational path, seemed destined to deliver the news as soon as she obtained her first assignment.

Bianna Golodryga

This Russian born beauty left her home country when she was still a child; she and her family came to the United States as political refugees hoping for a better life. While her professional training had her on track for a career in the arts, she developed a passion for journalism at a young age, and set her sights on reporting and anchoring.

Sarah Westwood

Becky Anderson

Becky Anderson is a British-born journalist, anchor, and international correspondent for the CNN news network. She holds degrees in economics from the University of Sussex and a master’s in communication from Arizona State University.

Anderson is currently the anchor of Connect The World With Becky Anderson, and she also serves as managing editor of CNN Abu Dabi. She remains one of the highest profile female anchors that CNN employs today.

Chris Jansing

Jansing knows a few things about having to voice her opinion. The youngest of twelve children, she grew up in a small Ohio town with big political aspirations. After entering college with the intention to major in political science, she soon switched to broadcast journalism, as she saw that as the perfect avenue to continue strengthening her voice.

Jansing is currently the anchor of Jansing and Company, which airs on MSNBC. She’s reported for Nightly News, Today, and MSNBC affiliates. She also acts as senior White House correspondent for MSNBC news network.

Zain Asher

British-born Zain Asher is no stranger to the spotlight; affluent parents and famous siblings left her hungry for a bit of limelight as well. She set her sights on broadcast journalism from an early age, and left her home country to pursue a career with an American news media company.

Asher currently anchors the weekend edition of CNN Newsroom, and she’s also a regular on the networks prime time business programs, including Quest Means Business, The Express, and First Move With Julia Chatterly. She has also covered high profile stories such as the Nigerian kidnapping of hundreds of school children as well as the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Alex Witt

Witt is a native of Los Angeles and holds degrees in both journalism and international relations from the University of Southern California. She also attended the prestigious Marlborough School For Girls, which no doubt set the stage for future successful endeavors.

In addition to covering such newsworthy stories like the September 11th terrorist attack and both the 2000 and 2004 elections, Witt currently serves as anchor for Saturday morning’s MSNBC Live. Brooke Baldwin

Betty Nguyen

Nguyen began her successful career as a morning anchor and reporter at a CBS affiliate in Waco, Texas. A number of breaking news events such as the Columbia disaster earned her the attention of prominent news networks.

Nguyen joined MSNBC in 2013, and she took on anchor positions on Early Today and First Look. She also acts as a co-anchor and news correspondent for The Today Show.

Susan Hendricks

Susan Hendricks was born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in communications, she headed off in search of journalism fame and fortune, starting with a small local station in Palm Springs, California.

After just two years in the field, she was offered an anchor position in an NBC-affiliate, where she hosted a two-hour morning show. Soon after, she was offered a position with the CNN network, where she now hosts and anchors shows like CNN Headline News and CNN International.

Stephanie Ruhle

Ruhle didn’t start out with broadcasting aspirations, but a unique career path brought her to broadcasting prominence on the MSNBC network. After graduating from Lehigh University, she enjoyed a successful career in the finance industry for nearly fourteen years before making a bold career move.

Ruhle is now Senior Business correspondent and anchor of MSNBC Live, as well as Velshe and Ruhle. In addition to regular appearances on camera, Ruhle remains active in the finance sector, and acts as an independent consultant for Fortune 500 corporations.

Robin Curnow

Robin Curnow is an institution at CNN; she started her career in 2001 in London, covering stories in both the UK and Europe. A combination of being in the right place at the right time and having the ability to create engaging stories brought opportunities to cover the World Cup, Nelson Mandela’s death and funeral, and a host of other newsworthy events.

Curnow currently anchors CNN Newsroom, which airs Fridays at 6 and 7 p.m. She continues acting as an international correspondent and guest host in London, Johannesburg, and New York.

Kasie Hunt

Kasie Hunt is an American political correspondent; she was born in Wayne, Pennsylvania. After obtaining her degree in international affairs from Georgetown University, she served as a political intern for NBC news.

As of November 2014, Hunt was a regular MSNBC anchor and political correspondent. She writes for MSNBC.com and is a regular on MSNBC Live and Bloomberg Television. She received her own talk show on MSNBC entitled Kasie DC, and she has most recently been seen on Way Too Early With Kasie Hunt, which airs Sunday mornings.

Amanda Davies

Davies was born in Manchester, the daughter of sports journalist David Davies. Upon her graduation from Oxford in 2001, she began her career at the BBC, where she worked as an investigative reporter and regular presenter of BBC Sports Your News.

As of 2012, Davies took a position as sports anchor for CNN, where she hosts shows such as World Sports and The Circuit. She continues covering special interest stories such as The World Cup, The Olympics, and coverage related to the Lance Armstrong and FIFA scandals.

Kelly O´Donnell

Kelly O´Donnell is an American journalist and political reporter for NBC News and White House News correspondent. Upon graduating from Northwestern University, she began her career at a CBS affiliate in Cleveland.

O´Donnell has now switched her loyalties to MSNBC and its subsidiaries; she’s a regular guest anchor for Nightly News, Meet The Press, Today, and various MSNBC programs.

Kate Snow

Thanks to a number of positions with the ABC and CNN news networks, the talents of Kate Snow were finely honed for future positions with NBC and MSNBC. Hala Gorani

Tahzeen Ahmad

Tahzeen Ahmad was born in Pakistan to academic parents, Shaher and Waheed. Family travels and job opportunities took them back and forth from Britain to Pakistan, and she graduated from Weald College and the University of London.a

Until her untimely death in November of 2019, Tahzeen worked for both London-based MSNBC affiliates and the BBC as anchor and co-host of special interest programming. She succumbed to cancer last year, and her talent and contributions to the industry will be sorely missed.

Poppy Harlow

Poppy Harlow was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After attending the Blake Preparatory school, she went on to obtain a degree in political science from Columbia University.

Harlow interned for several CBS news affiliates while still in college, and she set her sights high with aspirations of anchoring prime time television. Her big break came when CNN offered her anchor positions on several shows, including CNN Newsroom, CNN International, and New Day. She remains a solid and stable presence with their network even today.

Dara Brown

Dara Brown is a graduate of New York University; her ambitious work ethic and various opportunities brought her to a place of prominence in American journalism and reporting.

Brown remains a producer and news anchor for various programs on MSNBC. She shares her expertise on shows such as Early Today on NBC and First Look on MSNBC.

Stephanie Gosk

Stephanie Gosk started her career right after 2000, when she joined ABC news in New York City. As of 2006, she took a position with NBC as their London correspondent. It was there that she had the privilege of covering Osama Bin Laden’s death, as well as the Sochi Olympics and LBTGQ issues arising in Russia.

Stephanie now serves the MSNBC network, appearing most often on NBC News, Today, MSNBC Nightly News, and several other current reports programs. She and wife Jenna Wolfe reside in New York with their two daughters, Harper and Quinn.

Erica Hill

Hill is a Clinton, Connecticut native who graduated from Boston University with a degree in journalism. Her debut in television came with TechTV, where she hosted and helped in the production of TechTVNews and TechLive.

Hill joined CNN Headline News in 2003, and in addition to taking on special interest projects, she co-anchored Prime News Tonight and Prime News With Erica Hill. After a brief tenure with CBS and NBC, she returned home to CNN and continues to serve them today in various anchor and co-anchor positions.

Leanne Greg

Leanne Greg is an award-winning American television journalist who has a varied background in reporting and production. She’s been credited with several high-profile stories, coverage of nearly six Olympic games, and political campaigns that set her apart from many of her colleagues.

Laura Jarrett

Catie Beck

Catie Beck started her journalism journey in 2005, when she graduated from American University with a degree in broadcast journalism. Years of service to several small stations eventually led to a big promotion with MSNBC.

Brianna Keilar

Australian-born Brianna Keilar came to the United States with her family at a very young age.  They settled in Orange County, CA, where Brianna grew and eventually graduated from Mission Viejo High School. She went on to obtain a dual degree in mass communications and psychology from Berkeley University.

After starting as an anchor for CNN in Washington D.C., Keilar went on to act as official White House correspondent for the network, covering high profile stories like the rollout and implementation of Obamacare. She is now anchor of CNN Right Now, which airs daily at 1 p.m.

Katy Tur

Katherine Tur, or Katy, as she is more commonly called, is an American author and broadcast journalist. She worked as a reporter for small stations in Brooklyn and New York before trying her hand at storm chasing for The Weather Channel.

Tur served most recently as embedded anchor and reporter on behalf of MSNBC, charged with covering the Trump Presidential campaign. Although she was heavily criticized for her questioning techniques, she remained a solid presence throughout the campaign, and now serves as a regular on MSNBC Live Weeknights.

Kelly Cobiella

Kelly Cobiella began her broadcast journalism career working as a weather reporter in Grand Junction, Colorado. She ascended quickly to anchoring positions, securing a spot at a local station in Miami, where she delivered the evening news for a number of years.

Ramberg came from CNN to MSNBC, where she now hosts MSNBC’s Your Business, airing on Sunday mornings at 7:30. The show focuses on providing practical advice for small business owners and addresses current issues facing entrepreneurs today.

Joy-Ann Reid

Despite adverse situations and life experiences in her childhood, Joy-Ann Reid continued to reach for her dreams. An orphan at the young age of 17, she moved back to the East Coast from Colorado and enrolled in Harvard University.

After obtaining her degree in visual art and documentation in film, she began working as an intern for a southern Florida television station. After a number of varying roles in television and radio, she joined MSNBC in 2014 and began hosting and anchoring her own show entitled The Reid Report. Milissa Rehberger

Rehberger is a 1993 grad of both Hobart and William Smith colleges, and she served as co-anchor for stations in Orlando and Oklahoma City. She joined MSNBC in 2003 and has served the network as a reporter, producer, and anchor for several programs.

After earning accolades and various awards for her freelance reporting work, Rehberger was asked to anchor Early Today and MSNBC’s First Look. She also hosts prime time news breaks on MSNBC on both weeknights and weekends.

Susan Filan

A graduate of Tulane University, Ali Vitali obtained her Bachelor of arts degree in journalism and communications, and soon after hit the campaign trail to cover the Republican side of the 2016 Presidential elections.

Vitali has actually been employed by MSNBC twice; she worked at the network from 2012-2013, then taking a leave to try her hand at editing for Sweet Lemon Media productions. Eventually, she landed back at MSNBC, and is now anchoring a prime-time spot called Krystal Clear. 

Christi Paul

Christi Paul’s talents extend far beyond mere reporting; an accomplished singer and author, she has had success in both fields, being both a published author and performer who has shared the stage with greats such as Richard Marx and David Foster.

Prior to joining CNN subsidiary, HLN in 2003, Christi began her career as a one-man band, acting as reporter/producer/anchor for a small station in Clarksburg. She quickly rose to greater prominence and greater responsibility, working her way up to an anchor position with the CNN network, hosting shows such as CNN New Day as well as various others on HLN.

Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell has enjoyed a successful career serving MSNBC as an anchor, reporter, and commentator. Her passions include politics, and she has been involved in coverage of several Presidential elections as well as coverage related to White House policy and practice.

Mitchell currently serves MSNBC as co-anchor for Hardball With Chris Matthews. She is also host and correspondent of Andrea Mitchell Reports, an hour of political commentary and interviews with top advisors.

Christine Romans

Romans is chief business correspondent and anchor of Early Start With Dave Briggs on CNN. She covers business and finance topics that are applicable to all Americans, and her talent for breaking down complex systems into accessible jargon is what keeps her audiences tuned in.

Romans joined CNN Business network in 1999, and spent several years initially reporting from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. She has won a number of awards for her excellence in journalism, including the Media Excellence Award for Business Reporting and the James W. Schwartz Award for excellence in journalism.

Nancy Snyderman

Unlike many of the women on this list, Snyderman didn’t attend college with aspirations of becoming a broadcast journalist. Her love was of medicine, and she obtained an undergraduate degree in microbiology and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center before starting work as a successful physician.

Snyderman was approached with the opportunity to serve NBC as chief medical correspondent, which she happily accepted. She had been making appearances for ABC affiliate stations for a number of years, and she was happy to accept an offer from NBC. Reports from Snyderman have appeared on Today, NBC Nightly News, and Dateline NBC. She began hosting an MSNBC special entitled Dr. Nancy beginning in 2009, and continues to lend her expertise and sound medical advice to millions of Americans with each broadcast.

Lynn Smith

Smith graduated magna cum laude from Miami University in Ohio, where she obtained her degree in mass communications. After an initial position as an intern at an NBC-affiliate station in Los Angeles, she moved to the East Coast to pursue her passion for broadcasting.

Smith is currently working for CNN and HLN, a subsidiary of CNN. She hosts On The Story and Weekend Express With Lynn Smith, a show that focuses on national and international news.

Faith Jenkins

Faith Jenkins is a successful attorney-turned legal analyst; her interest in political science and the legal justice system paved the way for several positions in which she shares her expertise and legal counsel with a broad audience. 

She has appeared on many networks as a legal analyst, appearing on such shows as The O’Reilly Factor, Hannity, Politics Nation With Rev. Al Sharpton, and many others. Most recently, she has acted as a legal analyst and anchor on the MSNBC network.

Isa Soares

Kristie Lu Stout

Kristie Lu Stout is a leading international correspondent for CNN based in China. Her reports both from the newsroom and on the field have earned her critical acclaim and the respect of nearly one million fans on social media.

Victoria Defrancesco Soto

Jennifer Westhoven

With a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Bryn Mawr college, Westhoven’s future seemed bright. Her career began with special interest stories such as the financial collapse of 2008, the September 11th attacks, and the Enron scandal.

Fredricka Whitfield

Alisyn Camerota

With a number of impressive journalism accomplishments to her name and a solid history of reporting both national and international events, Alisyn Camerota had her fate sealed as one of CNN’s most notable female anchors.

Camerota has received a number of awards for her excellence in journalism, including several Emmy Awards. She serves most recently as anchor and host of the show New Day on CNN.

Lisa Myers

Lisa Myers is an American journalist, investigator, and contributing correspondent for Nightly News. Her career began in 1979 with a position as White House correspondent for The Washington Star.

After joining the MSNBC network in 1981, Meyers enjoyed a long and prosperous career with the network, earning many awards for her quality work and professionalism under pressure.  Her reporting has earned her critical acclaim and prestigious awards such as the Clarion Award for excellence in journalism as well as the George Polk award.
